  • ECU and TCU diagnostics and repair;
  • Component-level electronic repairs;
  • Electronic circuit analysis and restoration;
  • Airbag, BSI, BCM and comfort module repairs;
  • Transmission control unit repairs;
  • Electronic data recovery, backup and transfer;
  • Software restoration and programming;
  • ECU cloning, coding, configuration and adaptation;
  • Custom software development;
  • Advanced electronic bench testing.

These services may concern passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, construction equipment and industrial vehicles.

Each intervention is subject to technical feasibility, available resources and applicable legal requirements.

Remote laboratory services do not include a complete vehicle inspection or mechanical repair.

4. Remote Services & Shipping Authorization

Services are primarily performed on electronic control units and modules shipped to our laboratory.

Customers must contact ECU-Expert.com before shipping any equipment.

An initial technical assessment may be carried out using the equipment references, reported symptoms and information provided by the customer.

This preliminary assessment does not constitute a definitive diagnosis or guarantee of repair.

Equipment shipped without prior authorization may be refused or held pending identification and instructions.

Receipt of equipment does not automatically constitute acceptance of a repair order.

5. Right to Decline Service Requests

ECU-Expert.com may decline a proposed service where there is a legitimate, objective and justifiable reason.

Examples include:

  • Insufficient probability of a successful repair;
  • Severe or irreversible electronic damage;
  • Hardware or software incompatibility;
  • Unavailable components;
  • Technical complexity exceeding available capabilities;
  • Disproportionate intervention costs;
  • Inadequate technical or safety conditions;
  • Requests contrary to applicable regulations;
  • Insufficient or inconsistent equipment information.

Technical and economic feasibility is assessed individually.

Shipping equipment to the laboratory does not oblige ECU-Expert.com to accept or perform a repair.

Any refusal must comply with applicable law, including consumer protection requirements.

Services already contractually accepted cannot be discontinued arbitrarily.

6. Severely Damaged, Modified or Suspicious Equipment

The laboratory may refuse equipment whose condition prevents reliable intervention or presents significant technical risks.

This may include:

  • Burned or severely corroded circuit boards;
  • Missing or destroyed components;
  • Damaged PCB tracks;
  • Severely damaged connectors;
  • Defective previous repairs;
  • Undocumented hardware or software modifications;
  • Altered identification references;
  • Damage inconsistent with the customer’s declaration.

Where there are objective indications of fraudulent manipulation, deliberate substitution or false information, ECU-Expert.com may request clarification, suspend the assessment or decline the service for a legitimate reason.

Sending defective equipment does not automatically entitle the customer to receive a functional replacement unit.

No replacement or exchange is owed unless contractually agreed or legally required.

7. Customer Information & Declarations

Customers must provide accurate and reasonably complete information concerning:

  • Vehicle or machinery make and model;
  • ECU or module part number;
  • Reported symptoms and trouble codes;
  • Circumstances of the malfunction;
  • Previous repairs;
  • Electronic or software modifications;
  • Known physical or electrical damage;
  • Available technical history.

Known previous opening, repair or modification must be disclosed.

Incomplete or inaccurate information may affect diagnostic findings, costs and repair feasibility.

Customers must own the equipment or possess the necessary authorization to request the service.

8. Inbound Shipping & Equipment Protection

Customers must obtain shipping authorization before dispatch.

Unless otherwise agreed, customers independently select, contract and pay the carrier transporting their equipment to the laboratory.

Packaging must provide appropriate protection against:

  • Shock and vibration;
  • Crushing;
  • Moisture;
  • Electrostatic discharge;
  • Connector and component damage.

Shipping insurance appropriate to the equipment’s declared value is recommended.

Customers are encouraged to retain tracking details, shipping receipts and photographs of the equipment and packaging.

9. Carrier Liability, Loss & Transport Damage

Postal operators and courier companies remain responsible for their own contractual and legal obligations.

In cases of loss, theft, delay, misdelivery or damage, responsibility depends on the party contracting the carrier and the applicable legal allocation of risk.

When the customer independently arranges shipping, claims may need to be addressed directly to the carrier.

Where ECU-Expert.com arranges or contracts shipping, its applicable legal obligations remain in effect.

ECU-Expert.com does not guarantee carrier delivery times and is not responsible for incidents exclusively attributable to third parties where applicable law does not impose such liability.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for damage attributable to ECU-Expert.com.

Damage discovered upon delivery may be photographed and documented.

10. Shipping Charges & International Deliveries

Shipping charges are calculated according to the applicable courier or postal service rates.

Costs may vary depending on:

  • Destination;
  • Country and distance;
  • Package weight and dimensions;
  • Selected shipping service;
  • Optional insurance;
  • Customs procedures;
  • Applicable duties and taxes.

Unless otherwise agreed, inbound shipping is paid for by the customer.

Return shipping charges are communicated before dispatch and invoiced under the agreed conditions.

International customs fees and taxes are allocated according to the agreed arrangements and applicable law.

11. Equipment Reception & Condition Assessment

Upon receipt, ECU-Expert.com may examine:

  • Identification references;
  • Housing condition;
  • Connectors;
  • Previous opening marks;
  • Visible damage;
  • Packaging condition.

Photographs and technical observations may be recorded.

Internal inspection may be performed where necessary and authorized.

The initial inspection does not guarantee identification of all internal, intermittent or hidden defects.

12. Advanced Electronic Diagnostics

Diagnostic procedures may include power supply testing, electronic measurements, circuit analysis, communication checks, memory examination and software analysis.

Diagnostics and repairs are separate technical services.

A diagnostic assessment may be charged even if a repair is subsequently impossible, provided the customer has accepted the relevant charges in advance.

The estimated diagnostic period generally ranges from 1 to 30 days, depending on equipment complexity and the tests required.

Agreed contractual deadlines and mandatory customer rights remain applicable.

13. Quotations & Customer Authorization

Following the assessment, ECU-Expert.com may issue a quotation describing the proposed work, applicable costs and estimated completion time.

No additional chargeable repair work is carried out without prior customer approval.

Acceptance may be communicated by:

  • Email;
  • WhatsApp;
  • SMS;
  • Telephone, where the agreement can be reliably established.

Written confirmation may be requested for telephone approvals.

Significant additional work requires renewed authorization.

Customers may decline a proposed repair without affecting previously agreed and lawfully payable diagnostic charges.

14. Technical Limitations & Repair Success

The complexity of electronic failures means that not every control unit can be successfully restored.

Some defects may be irreversible or require components that are unavailable.

Repair success is not automatically guaranteed unless expressly agreed.

Where an intervention cannot be completed, the customer will be informed.

Applicable charges depend on the agreed services actually performed and mandatory legal provisions.

An unsuccessful outcome does not automatically mean improper performance, but it does not remove liability for defective work.

15. Repair Timeframes

Estimated repair times may range from 1 day to 3 months.

The actual duration depends on:

  • System complexity;
  • Extent of damage;
  • Required components;
  • Supplier lead times;
  • Software operations;
  • Functional validation.

These periods are indicative and do not authorize unlimited extensions of agreed contractual deadlines.

Customers will be informed of significant changes.

Mandatory rights relating to delays and non-performance remain applicable.

16. Special-Order Electronic Components

Certain repairs require components ordered from external suppliers.

Customers are informed in advance of relevant prices and conditions.

Special chargeable orders require prior customer authorization.

Where an order has been placed and cannot be cancelled, documented costs may remain payable to the extent permitted by the contract and applicable law.

Ordering a component does not automatically eliminate mandatory consumer withdrawal rights.

17. Hardware & Software Operations

Services may involve:

  • Electronic component replacement;
  • Precision soldering;
  • Circuit repair;
  • Memory restoration;
  • Data recovery;
  • Programming and reprogramming;
  • Data transfer or cloning;
  • Custom software development.

Some operations may permanently alter electronic components or stored data.

Exact restoration to the previous condition may not be technically possible.

Material risks are communicated before authorization where appropriate.

All operations must comply with applicable safety, vehicle identification and system compliance requirements.

18. Previously Opened, Unsealed or Repaired Modules

Equipment previously opened, unsealed, modified or repaired may involve additional technical risks.

Hidden damage and undocumented modifications may restrict repair feasibility.

Any optional commercial warranty may be limited to the work performed, where clearly communicated and legally permitted.

Independent pre-existing defects are not automatically included in a targeted repair.

Previous opening of an ECU does not automatically eliminate statutory customer rights or liability for our own work.

19. Functional Testing & Validation

Following repair, equipment may undergo relevant electronic and software checks.

Bench testing can verify certain functions without reproducing all operating conditions of the original vehicle or machinery.

Successful laboratory testing does not guarantee that unrelated external, mechanical or electrical systems are fault-free.

Any required vehicle-level adaptation or diagnosis remains separate unless expressly agreed.

20. Technical Instructions & Customer Obligations

Customers must follow technical and safety instructions supplied with the repaired equipment.

Instructions may be provided by email, WhatsApp, SMS, telephone or accompanying documentation.

They may include:

  • Battery disconnection;
  • Power supply and ground verification;
  • Wiring harness inspection;
  • External short-circuit testing;
  • Connector examination;
  • Sensor and actuator checks;
  • Coding and adaptation procedures;
  • Specific installation sequences.

Failure to follow sufficiently clear instructions may affect warranty coverage where it directly causes damage.

The laboratory’s mandatory legal obligations remain applicable.

21. Rejected Repairs & Equipment Return

If a repair is legitimately declined or technically impossible, the customer will be informed.

Equipment may be returned unrepaired according to the agreed arrangements.

No functional replacement is automatically owed.

Previously agreed and lawfully payable diagnostic charges may remain due.

Return arrangements take account of the equipment’s condition, authorized inspections and the laboratory’s legal obligations.

Return shipping charges are determined under the agreed terms and applicable law.

22. Withdrawal Rights & Cancellation

For eligible distance service contracts concluded with consumers, the statutory withdrawal period is generally 14 days from contract conclusion, unless a legal exception applies.

Where the consumer expressly requests that a paid service begin during this period, the required consent and acknowledgments must be obtained.

Following a valid withdrawal after performance has begun, a proportionate amount may be payable where legally permitted.

Fully performed services may be exempt from withdrawal once all applicable legal conditions have been satisfied.

Accepting a quotation does not automatically eliminate the right of withdrawal.

Completed services are not refundable solely because of a change of mind where withdrawal rights no longer apply, without prejudice to remedies for defective performance.

Where electronic withdrawal functionality is legally required for online contracts, it must be made available.

23. Withdrawal Form

Where the legal right of withdrawal applies, consumers may send a clear statement to:

contact@ecu-expert.com

Withdrawal form:

To Flavius Boros EI – ECU-Expert.com

I hereby notify you of my decision to withdraw from the contract concerning the following service:

Service: ………………………………….

Contract date: ………………………………….

Full name: ………………………………….

Address: ………………………………….

Date: ………………………………….

Signature (only if submitted on paper): ………………………………….

24. Pricing, VAT, Payment & Invoicing

Prices are communicated before chargeable operations begin.

Depending on the agreement, payment may be required after diagnostics, after repair completion or before return shipping.

Advance payments may be agreed for specialized services or component orders.

The business operates under the French VAT exemption scheme (franchise en base de TVA) for applicable transactions.

VAT not applicable, Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code.

Invoices are issued according to the applicable tax rules and may be provided electronically.

Any retention of equipment for unpaid charges must have a valid legal basis.

Specific international tax rules remain applicable.

25. Warranties & Technical Claims

Any commercial repair warranty applies to the expressly agreed scope.

Coverage may be limited to the specific defect or operation addressed.

It does not automatically include:

  • Unrelated failures;
  • External vehicle circuits;
  • Defective wiring;
  • Sensors and actuators;
  • Subsequent damage unrelated to the repair;
  • Unauthorized third-party interventions.

Warranty claims may require a new technical assessment.

Mandatory statutory rights and liability for defective performance remain fully applicable.

26. Ownership & Uncollected Equipment

Equipment remains the customer’s property unless a lawful transfer has been expressly agreed.

Where customers do not respond to requests concerning return, payment or collection, reminders may be issued.

Any storage fees require an appropriate contractual or legal basis and must be disclosed where required.

Equipment is not automatically considered abandoned.

Disposal or recycling requires the owner’s authorization or an applicable legal procedure.

27. Complaints & Consumer Mediation

Customers are encouraged to contact ECU-Expert.com first to seek an amicable resolution.
